Sclerotherapy has long been the treatment of choice for varicose veins and is used most often at the Vein Treatment Centers.
This procedure eliminates the need for invasive surgery and hospitalization.
Sclerotherapy (injection treatment) is a nonsurgical procedure that involves injecting a special solution into the varicose vein.
The solution causes the walls of the vein to close, preventing blood from collecting in the vein.
The vein is then absorbed by the body in a natural healing process.
Blood flow is thus redirected into healthy veins, restoring proper circulation.
Treatment sessions including ultrasound/doppler evaluation take less than one hour.
Medical photographs are sometimes required for documentation by insurance companies, and help to monitor progress.
The duration of your visits depends on the number and size of veins to be injected.
In most cases, treatment can be completed in 20-30 minutes.
Schlerotherapy is effective for both small spider veins and and large varicose veins.
In some instances, however, a recommendation may be made to laser treat or remove large varicose veins.
Removal would be done in our office using local anesthesia and enhances the effectiveness of sclerotherapy.
The risks of anesthesia and hospitalization are eliminated.
Each case and each patient with varicose vein problems is different.
The kind of treatment and number of treatments required will depend on the number of affected veins, their size, how fast you heal
and the cosmetic results you desire.
After an initial consultation we can give you an estimate of the number of treatments needed.
